FAJÂ TWO COVERS

One of the most beautiful on the island of St. George.
Landscape protected and classified as a place of international importance, due to its natural beauty, it comes in much of its enchanting lagoon, of brackish water and subject to tides, enabling panoramas of rare beauty and spiritual peace. Here they capture the famous shrimp that serves as bait for the fishing of other species like the «Garoupa», by the local fishermen. Of great natural importance, habitat of many species of birds… It is said that the water that springs from a well of the Hermita of Nossa Senhora de Lurdes of 1908, at low tide, is miraculous, besides being blessed by the saint, being famous throughout the island. Its name derives from the plant «covers», with small and charming yellow flowers, which exists in abundance in the Fajã and attributed a beauty and joy very own.

LAGO DO FOGO


Located in the center of the island of São Miguel, immense blue lake about two kilometers long by one wide it´s situated on a crater. It´s declared a nature reserve.

 

 

 FAIAL.

The island of Faial is the fifth largest island of the archipelago of the Azores, Portugal. Its capital is Horta, the seaside epicenter of the Azores. The island of Faial is part of the Central group and is the westernmost point of the so-called «Triangle Islands», also formed by St. George and Pico.

Dairy products, along with beef, its cheeses…… notable products from Portugal, has a rich gastronomy that includes local fish and seafood.

 

 

SETE CIDADES. 

The Lake of Sete Cidades, on the island of São Miguel, is one of the 7 natural wonders of Portugal. Located in the crater of an ancient and huge volcano, it consists of two small lakes connected to each other:

 Lagoa Blue & Green , so-called because each reflects the sunlight in differents colors.

 

 

 

VILA FRANCA DO CAMPO ISLET. 

Where there are sometimes islets near the coast, as in the case of the islet of Vila Franca do Campo, which has inside a caldera flooded almost perfectly circular and it´s declared a natural reserve.

WHALE WATCHING!!!

The observation of cetaceans is an activity that can be practiced throughout the archipelago. For those who want to contact these charming mammals, there are several starting points, from Franca and in Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel; To Angra do heroism or Praia da Vitória, in the Terceira; Or the city of Horta, in Faial, one of the main and most dynamic centers of observation and study of cetaceans of the Azores. Among the specimens it is possible to see, the blue whale, the largest animal on Earth, with about 30 meters and a weight of up to 150 tons.
